Dear Friend

The Porter’s Garden Soirée
Sunday 26 June 2005   4pm~6pm

18th century buffet - fruit punch - Con Brio singers

Application form for tickets · Poster pdf

The Friends of the Porter’s Garden invite you to share our midsummer garden celebration.

Last year our Strawberry Tea Party was a great success, with one hundred people attending.

This year we are celebrating the completion of our Garden Seating, thanks to a substantial grant to "develop and enhance the existing garden" from Onyx Environmental Trust. We commissioned the three seats from Sculptor-Mason Roger Stephens in April 2002 and are proud to announce that they have now been installed and will be officially ‘opened’ at the Soirée (although you are welcome to sit on them before then).

We shall also be ‘opening’ our Knot Garden, designed by the two Portsmouth schoolchildren who won our Schools competition for children studying the Tudors.

The garden is looking even lovelier as it approaches its fifth midsummer, with flowerbeds and hedges maturing. Help us raise more funds by bringing your family and friends to enjoy an eighteenth century buffet with fruit punch in a beautiful garden to the sounds of the Con Brio singers for £5.00.

To attend, please return the form with a cheque. Directions: M275 into Portsmouth following the brown signs to Historic Ships along Market Way, Alfred Road and Queen Street. There is multi-storey and ground level car parking in Havant Street. Walk through the Victory Gate entrance and turn right past the white Porter’s Lodge. If the weather is inclement we have indoor facilities.

Yours faithfully

Ann Coats
