Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum)

Strong winds from the sea had blown the tree over and partially uprooted it. [Who] righted the tree and staked it. In 2009 the Friends thinned the canopy by about a third to reduce the force of the wind acting on it. The yew hedge provides some protection from the wind. The tree seems to be thriving again.

The strawberry tree, which was closer to the sea, died [when] and has been removed.
